The Blackwing 6 is a celebration of independent and small businesses and their entrepreneurial spirit. The colors of the pencils in this set are inspired by iconic neon signs that adorn storefronts and windows of many small businesses across the country and world. In 1912, Georges Claude, a French engineer, installed the worlds first neon sign above a barbershop in Paris. To this day, neon signs can be found in the displays of many small businesses located on the Main Streets of local towns, making locals feel at home in their everyday general stores, book stores, coffee shops and restaurants.

Each set in this collection comes with six neon red and six neon blue pencils inspired by the iconic neon Open sign. Each pencil features a black ferrule, black imprint and the soft graphite. The number 6 represents the six Noble Gases which give neon lights their distinct colors. This release supports the Small Business Relief Fund as they work to help small businesses keep their lights on.
